Springfield Airport Passengers Hit 1.5 million in 2025

Jan 16 2026

Annual passenger numbers have set another record at the Springfield airport, marking the third straight record year at SGF.

In 2025, a record 1.55 million total passengers used the airport. That’s up 9 percent from the year before and up more than 70 percent since 2015.

“The Springfield airport continues to see year-over-year growth that outpaces the aviation industry,” said Brian Weiler, director of aviation at SGF. “1.5 million annual passengers is a milestone, and we are thankful to the community for flying Springfield.”

Several factors appear responsible for the upswing. They include the strong performance of the Springfield area economy, as well as the region’s overall population growth.

Other airport metrics also show improvements:

  • In 2025, the number of airline seats available in Springfield rose 11.2 percent over 2024. That indicates growing passenger demand.
  • 11.89 million gallons of aviation fuel was loaded on board aircraft — a nearly 13 percent increase over 2024.
  • Flights leaving Springfield were 87.1 percent full on average, with 11,495 scheduled flights operating in 2025. That’s an increase in scheduled flights of 8 percent.

GROWTH PREDICTED TO CONTINUE AT SGF

Growth is expected to continue in the new year, and with it comes continued growing pains. A 10-month long flooring project will be completed this summer, and a nearly $10 million terminal apron expansion project will wrap in the spring. Also coming this year are improved passenger amenities, including an automated exit lane and electric vehicle charging stations.

Flyers are encouraged to visit the airport’s website for project updates: https://www.flyspringfield.com/ or to follow SGF on social media: @flySGF on all platforms.

Springfield-Branson National Airport is the gateway to the Ozarks, supporting four airlines with nonstop flights to 14 destinations. Every trip from SGF helps strengthen air service, which helps the airport attract and retain nonstop destinations and airlines for passengers in Southwest Missouri. Springfield-Branson National Airport is Missouri’s third-largest airport.
