Pandemic Questions

Jan 18 2022

With the Omicron Covid variant running rampant we’ve seen an increase in public questions about vaccines and Covid testing. Many want to know if the airport does Covid testing, or if they need a test or a vaccine to fly.

Here’s what we’re telling them:

  • Testing in not available at this airport. Testing is available at some airports, but they tend to be ones that have international flights.
  • If flying internationally, you may need a test, or a vaccine, or both. Check on requirements in the country you’re flying to.
  • At this point travelers don’t need a test or a vaccine to fly domestically. However, you do need to wear a mask in the airport terminal and on the aircraft.
When traveling to the United States by air, travelers are required to show a negative test result or documentation of recovery from Covid before boarding their flight.

The bottom line is that travelers need to do their research before they book travel. Rules pertaining to Covid are changing all the time. Be sure to check for changes on a continuing basis.

There are lots of Covid resources on the Internet. Many aren’t worth much. Here are a couple of resources we recommend — they cover two topics: what you need to know about Covid and travel, and where you can get a Covid test in Greene County:

• The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides important travel information: click here.

• The Greene County Health Department has information about testing and vacines in the immediate Springfield area: click here.

Save travels and stay well!
