Springfield-Branson National Airport is updating its infastructure with greener and better passenger jet bridges.
This July through October, SGF will place five new jet bridges at Roy Blunt Terminal. The upgrades process began in July, when the airport's 27-year-old bridge at gate 3 was decomissioned and expertly removed to make room for a state-of-the-art replacement.
These jet bridges have met the end of their useful life, and thanks to a $5.3 million Airport Terminal Program grant and other federal grant money, the Airport is contributing just a 10 percent match to the $7.58 million to replace five jet bridges.
"The new jet bridges will be environmentall conscious, featuring the latest technology and have air and electricity connections for aircraft parked at each gate," said Dave Schaumburg, assistant director of aviation, operations. "Plus, they're more energy efficient."
Enhanced Passenger Experience
These five new jet bridges represent a significant advancement in airport infastructure. Once placed, the new jet bridges offer passengers a more comfortable passage between the terminal and airplane. Plus, these modern jet bridges provide airline staff equipment that is more energy efficient than previous generation bridges.

To our passengers, what this means for you:
- Once a jet bridge is removed, it should be replaced quickly, with gates able to be back in service in no time.
- Gates will be shut down and jet bridges replaced one at a time to minimize interruption in the terminal.
- We're replacing jet bridges at gates 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
- All jet bridges will be in service by fall 2025.
- As always, no local tax dollars were spent to fund construction projects at SGF.
